Entry #001
Today is officially the start of my new career as a State Alchemist, and I have to be honest; I'm a little overwhelmed by the reality of it. I'm a member of the military now. I'm expected to be both researcher, and soldier, but it's not like I didn't know what I was getting into.
News about the civil war in Ishval keeps escalating with each passing day, and I knew despite being a State Alchemist, I would have to defend myself, and my family some point in the future. I have abilities passed down from my mother, a proud Xingese warrior... But I just never imagine I would have to apply them on actual people, at least in the case of... Ending them.
In any case, I'm thankful that the skills I've learned from my mother have translated well with the form of lightning alchemy I've developed. I must say, using Alchemy to produce electrostatic discharge is one of the most dangerous forms of Alchemy I've ever utilized. Even with the ionized gloves I've created specially for this, it's difficult to control the path of the lightning, and the point of impact without causing collateral damage. It's just raw energy: energy I still need to master. It was by complete accident weeks before the exam, did I discover I had more control, and precision when I channeled the lightning through a conduit, in this case, one of my swords.
It completely ruined the blade, but the energy was more tamable, more precise, more focused... It gave me an idea, and with the help of my father, he forged a new blade that could handle the energy, while I etched the proper transmutation circles on it.
The proctors who oversaw my exam were impressed with this form of "Combat Alchemy." I won't deny the combat effectiveness of this alchemy is applicable, but it's merely a byproduct of my true intentions of reforming this form of Alchemy into something more productive for the people of Amestris...
Now that I look over with what I just wrote, it seems I've gotten off track again. Anyway, I should prepare for tomorrow; a lot of new faces, ideas to memorize, and share... Flix is going to love my new title.
