Let the Music Play
There were days, he would have to admit that seemed to get on the very last inch of his nerves. What kind of day was that? A day where he had nothing to do. Normally he could of at least bothered Mustang or talked to Hawkeye, but today there was no such luck. He couldn't find either of them. Quin was not really the type to bother people all the time but the two he spoke of, lets just say they were special.
So instead, the male found himself walking down the halls of central command. It was odd being alone at this time of day. Normally Riza would of dragged him away by now to work on more target practice. Honestly, most people would of gotten tired of it by now, since you always shot at the same things. Quinton was not one of those people. He loved gunmanship to the point he would do it out and in of the captain's teachings.
Thinking of it, the young rookie turned down a hall and headed to the shooting range they had. Of course, central had it built a while ago mostly for Riza's sake but now he had been seen lurking around there as much as the blonde captain. He could never be to prepared in his own opinion. He slumped a bit as he walked hands in his pockets, something he probably would of gotten yelled at for. The boy smirked a bit.
Oh, he wished that someone would come along and say to stop it. Oh he WISHED. He would have so much fun getting into trouble. He hadn't had a moment to get into trouble in a long while. At the thoughts, the young teen didn't really pay attention as to where his feet were taking him. Soon enough however he came upon the archery field. Not the correct entrance either.
It didn't look like anyone was shooting, so it didn't really matter much. He walked to the set up targets glancing over them with golden hues. He guessed archery and shooting weren't all that different. They both hit targets, his weapon just had a bit more damage on impact while an arrow had a more precise attack. As he stared at it and pondered a slight noise caught his attention.
A twang.
Instantly, his mind calculated exactly what the sound was. That.. was the sound of a bow releasing and arrow. B-But there was no one shooting when he came in! Didn't they see him out here?! His body turned quickly towards the sound of the bow noticing that he couldn't see anyone. That, didn't make sense he knew he could hear it.
His eyes darted around and instinctively he ducked down to the ground. Just moments before a arrow landed in the center of the target he had just been standing in front. His hues looked back at it. "Oh crap that could of been me." he thought to himself. "HEY! I'M OUT HERE YAH KNOW! SHOW A BIT OF COURTESY AND DON'T SHOOT ME MORON!" he yelled as loud as he could.
When he was sure that they wouldn't shoot, or at least he thought, he slowly rose from the ground. He brushed his uniform off lightly from all the dirt he had gotten on it. He knew he would hear about that later. He started to walk away before another twang came to his hearing but this one was a lot closer. He guessed he had about a minute until impact.
Without thinking he pulled his pistol out of his holster got one good look and shot. He could hear the noise of bullet and arrow colliding as the bullet ricocheted a bit and the arrow broke from impact. He was breathing a little heavy. Okay, this was a bit much for his kind of trouble. The one thing the boy didn't notice was that two arrows had been shot and the other, well... it was coming for his blind side.
(:'D double trouble )

A run in with a state alchemists got the young man's mind thinking. Perhaps it was time to visit Riza and Mustang. God, even though he wasn't under the command of the now Brigadier General anymore the guy's attitude still had a sincere way of making Ed in the worst moods. However now, the Elric boy could blankly make fun of him or disrespect him without catching hell from higher ups. Made it all worth the visit he was about to make. Besides after the 'Promised Day' the two had gotten closer as more friends then military dogs. Since Ed was retired as well. Here he was, Central Command. "Still nice and obnoxious as ever." He said as he entered through the main gate.
Former military didn't have too much trouble with the whole security thing. He had to stop and check out some of the new editions and even tried to get into the library. However it seemed as only current military personal were allowed in there. Made sense. It wasn't like former military officers hadn't tried to destroy or attack Central Command before. Under a different rule but it could be King Bradley loyalist this time around that would gun probably after Mustang to be honest. Most people after what happened that day though, gave up on the hope of King Bradley and saw through the facade he put on. Now it was finally time to go see the B.G Mustang before he heard a yell come from a room.
"What was that.." Ed asked as he peeked his head through the door, then a gunshot. What the hell is going on!? came his inner thoughts as he looked through. This man shot two arrows at a military personal with a gun. One was on a rush towards him as the other one was going to be avoided. Ed quickly reacted as he grabbed a bill board from the wall and threw it with a spin. Right on target as he knocked the arrow away. As the blond man with the bow turned to see who interrupted him, his nose was met by one of the hard stern fists of Edward Elric as he felt the nose break under his fist.
Quickly guards rushed in and began to almost arrest Ed and the man. "Hey, whoa. I was just protecting him. I'm Edward Elric, the former Fullmetal Alchemist! Come on!" He said as he tried to get his name cleared through his old alias.

LET THE MUSIC PLAY
There were only a few things the boy could handle at a time. He could handle trouble, that much was a given for someone like him. What he couldn't handle was the fact that someone was freaking shooting at him. He hadn't done anything wrong and he was being shot at by a bow and arrow person! The first thought that crossed his head was perhaps it was riza, trying to train him or something. He didn't recall riza ever putting his life on the line this much before though.
It was when he heard the sound of a second arrow that his eyes widened. He quickly spun once more as he turned to face the second one that had gone undetected because of the sound of the first one. He knew it was futile. It was to close all ready. He would never be able to brake it in time. Still his gun raised to it before a flying board made him duck a bit. The board hit the arrow right on causing both the board and the arrow to land near him with no real damage done.
Well, that was a relief. He didn't think boards flew though, so who had saved him. His golden eyes flickered around until he thought he saw a bit of commotion. It was easier to see now that there was actually more than one person down there. Without hesitation the boy sprinted down the archery field after the two that seemed to be struggling with the forces that had come for one reason or the other. Quinton quickly figured out just who had saved his life. He just couldn't believe who it was.
He had heard of him. Since, well, Mustang complained about him all the time. Riza had talked about him as well. Edward Elric. Previous FullMetal Alchemist. He frowned a bit that the guy had once been an alchemist and he wasn't really found of them. But, he had saved his life and that was enough for him to show his gratitude. He moved his still drawn pistol at the men trying to arrest him. "Let him go. He saved my life." he said calmly as if he wasn't threatening the lives of other military personal.
After all he was only a private. oooooohhhhh riza was going to have his hide later.

Mounds of paperwork had never phased her. However, mounds of paperwork that kept her from her prior arrangements were mildly irritating. It came with the position, as well as working alongside Mustang and all his projects. It was just very invasive. Especially when she was supposed to be knocking some sense into her apprentice. That little brat of a kid was more of a handful than even FullMetal. What a shame that was.
She was fed up. Orderly stacking what cluttered her desk, Riza stood. One by one, she slipped her two pistols into their holsters on her lower back. Finally, she slipped back into the blue military jacket before taking a few steps to the door. "I should be back before you leave, Mustang. If I don't check up on the Private, I will be responsible for a destroyed wing of Central Command. Excuse me." Without waiting for a response, she slipped through the door and pulled it slowly until it clicked behind her.
It didn't take long to realize something was wrong. The natural place to find her apprentice was in the shooting range, so her feet swiftly carried her there. Not far from it, she could hear shouting. Shouting back and forth for people to put their weapons down and arrests being made. With a huff of breath, Riza slipped in the entrance behind the arresting officers before raising her hand. "Officers, collect the blonde man on the ground. I claim responsibility of Private Verbalt and the man in the red coat." She waited in the center of the pathway as the third person was shuffled off. Her expression was void of any emotion, at least for now.
Once they were out, Riza flashed a small smile at the other blonde. "Welcome back, Edward Elric. I look forward to hearing about how your research has gone, and I'm sure Mustang would appreciate the news as well." Her voice was level, even a bit cheerful. Until she turned her gaze to the other boy. The one she really was responsible for. The one that had just raised his gun against fellow officers. That would be a problem.
Any hint of a previous smile was gone. Her tone was both irritated and infuriated, but she still spoke very casually. "As for you, Private." There was a slight pause. In one fluent motion, she had her pistol in her hand and it was aimed directly at Quin's head. A single shot would've been instantly lethal. "If you raise your gun against a fellow officer again, I will have your hide as a decoration for my bedroom wall. I don't give a damn why the hell you did it. You. Know. Better." A shot went off, but it was aimed to slide right past his temple.

Things had gone from bad of Ed almost about to get arrested to this Private who now had the other officers at gun point. "Wait what!? Stop no, are you crazy!" Ed shouted at the other man who he had just saved. These were all superior officers to him and even if they were the same low rank. You never pointed your gun at a fellow officer. Although he was guilty of swinging on his boss before but Colonel was a big pain in the ass.
A familiar voice seemed to be Edward's saving grace as she took the fall for the two trouble makers. Then smiled politely at him. "Hey Riza! Glad to see you showed up. Can't seem to stay away from the troubles of Central." He said as he scratched the back of his head. The next words were evil and towards the Private when the pistol was pulled out, his golden eyes widened almost immediately and the gun fired. Did she really just kill, nope just a warning shot.
"Glad to see you didn't lose you feminine qualities." Ed said with a laugh as he rubbed the back of his head. "By the way, I'm Edward Elric as she said. The former Fullmetal Alchemist!" He said as he pointed his thumb at himself to the man that had almost gotten them arrested before almost being killed. Sounded like something that would happen to him.

LET THE MUSIC PLAY
Quin didn't really have a little voice in his head. He didn't have the thing that told most people when they should stop talking. No, quin didn't seem to have any of those qualities. So, he didn't think about what could possibly be the affect of the act he had just done. It had seemed smart at the moment he had done it. He knew most people would at least freeze at a gun being drawn. They would react as such. So the blackette would get exactly what he wanted.
However, when the blonde yelled at him he looked over at him. "stop? what do you mean stop? I'm helping you." he spoke calmly. He didn't really get what the Elric was going on about and his thought process hadn't completely gone through just yet. He had after all almost gotten killed by a onslaught of several arrows none of which had impaled him thanks to this blonde. He had heard a lot about this boy, about who he was and how much he had irritated tall dark and fire. Quin almost chuckled at his own joke.
Only then did the guards seem to come his way. He turned a glare in their direction and was just about to cock the gun he held before another voice reached his ears. One he knew quite well and had come to respect. Perhaps the only person in the world he actually did respect to the point of becoming the dog of the particular voice to learn more from them. Riza Hawkeye. In some ways many would think that the female took the role of the blackette's parents. Quin himself didn't think this way, only because the term parents to him wasn't very happy in any way.
A ease came over him instantly as her commanding tone sent the others moving and collecting the man that had almost killed him. He resisted the urge to tease the man. He was in front of Riza, that made him feel and want to act more mature. He turned his head, his golden hues moving to look at the fellow blonde. She was beautiful, as any man would come to know, but didn't even try to come on to. Perhaps it was only a few like himself that got to see her closer than others. She spoke to Edward, in a way that seemed almost confusing to the private.
She didn't talk to many that way, and wondered just how important the blonde was. He had heard about him , knew him on sight, but. didn't expect this much. The research? He locked that piece of information in his brain. Maybe he would torment the flame later to try and get some detail out of him later. When the woman looked his way, he instantly knew he was in trouble. His face paled a bit.
He even felt himself take a hesitant step back. It wouldn't of been enough, he knew, if riza had really meant to kill him. She would have, in a matter of seconds. His eyes suddenly faced the barrel of her gun. He frowned a bit and waited for her punishment, if it be this, he wouldn't regret it. The sound of a shot rippled after her lecture and he didn't flinch as it flew past his ear. It hurt, mostly just from the sound of the passing bullet. He kept his form at attention and didn't move though. Not even as a bit of blood dripped from his ear. He knew it wasn't dangerous so he didn't bother with it right now.
"Understood captain." he said clearly. He kept his body at attention even when the other blonde spoke. He wasn't paying attention to him right now. He could talk to the boy later, right now, he just wanted to know that his master wasn't to angry at him. He felt like a puppy with its tail between its legs after being punished. That was exactly what he was after all, just a puppy that needed its master ...
