Many times since her brother's death, Mingmei had thought of returning to Xing permanently. Each time she would decide against it because she didn't want to get too attached to a place. Travelling the desert alone was quite tiresome, and yet she would manage it, and so this finalized her decision to travel to Xing on a regular basis, but not to live there. She wasn't technically even living in Amestris, as she moved around so often, and Xing had always been her home. She'd always preferred Amestris to Xing, but now with her brother dead, the only important person in her life, Xing suddenly was more important to her after all.
Mingmei walked through the empty alley and soon came out to a mostly empty street. She turned to the left and began walking in that direction, toward a tiny little ramshackle building with a bent door and only one window with dirty glass. She entered the building and quickly hung a sign on the door that read, "doctor". She then went inside to straighten everything up. It would take a while to clean this- she hadn't used this since the last time she was here, and that was when she was preparing her brother's body for burial. That was one thing she would rather not remember, and yet, she had returned here, for reasons unknown other than her heart telling her to. Maybe she could get a patient or two today that would help her to forget about these things for a little while. Straightening out the bed sheets on the small twin-size beds, Mingmei sat down on the floor, legs crossed, and waited. |
