GENERAL DESCRIPTION|| Being from Xing, Mingmei has dark black hair that reaches just to the middle of her back, and black eyes, and rather pointed features, especially her eyes. She has a rather innocent look to her, and though her eyes are pointed on the edges, they are very round on the inside, making her look a bit like a child, which of course she still is. However her childishness ends with her appearance, as she is very mature and serious in personality.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES|| Probably her size, because anyone who knows her is aware that she is very much like an adult in personality, but she is remembered because of how very small and fragile she looks. It is something that distinguishes her because her strong personality is so opposite her frail appearance.

GENERAL PERSONALITY|| At one time, Mingmei was passionate about her work, more than she is now. She was very obsessed with it, to say the least, and travelled a bit less than she does now, because she would like to stay in one place for a few months and get to know the people so that when she came back she could relate to them. She loved helping others and put their health before her own. It isn't to say she isn't like this now; she merely is less obsessed with her work.

Mingmei is extremely intelligent for her age. She still does care greatly for her work, and is very compassionate toward others. Still, at some times she can seem rather detached. She has a very hard time viewing people's losses, and will usually try to run away from anything sad. That is why she doesn't stay very long in any place anymore. She doesn't want to get attached to anything, because her greatest fear is to lose someone close to her again.

PARENTS|| Kaixue Ren (née Fa), mother, and Jihua Ren, father. She doesn't know them because they left her and her brother at an orphanage when they were just children.
SIBLINGS|| Mingtai Ren, twin brother, deceased at age thirteen, would be fourteen now if he was still alive.

HISTORY|| Mingmei grew up in a Xingese orphanage with her twin brother, Mingtai. The two got along very well, and it was rare that they would fight. When they were only five years old, they began studying alkehestry, having nothing better to do in the dull orphanage. They became more and more immersed with the thought of helping people through medicine and alkehestry, and grew up into fine young doctors. When they were only ten years old they left their orphanage and began a life as travelling doctors.

Mingmei and her brother crossed the desert with some traders who felt pity for the young abandoned 'orphans', and then once they got to Amestris, their business picked up. They were able to live off the funds they made as doctors, and travelled everywhere by foot unless they were able to pay someone who was going the same direction as them to take them along. They were perfectly happy with just the two of them, living a life they both loved, as they could help others.

That's when tragedy struck. Mingmei and Mingtai were helping out during the legendary Promised Day, trying to help those who were injured, to heal them. They were taking shelter with a few patients in a half-blown-up building when all of a sudden, a bomb went off. Mingmei was bleeding a bit from smacking her head on the stone where she fell, but she didn't get knocked out, so she could hear the patients' screams. She had run to them and tried to take care of them, but it had been too late. Upset, she ran for her brother, but couldn't find him. Finally she did find him, laying crumpled on the cold stone floor of the building, with a steady stream of blood coming from where he had also hit his head. The difference between them was that Mingtai wasn't awake. And he never did wake up again.

That day traumatized Mingmei. Her brother was the only thing she had left, the only person who could keep her going even through the toughest of times. With him gone, she could barely get by day to day. But she knew she had to, because she knew he'd have wanted her to keep going, and to keep helping people just as they had always done and wanted to do. Even so, she drastically changed as a person after that day. She stopped spending more than a few days at a time in different places, whereas she used to spend months to get to know everyone. Mingmei was afraid that if she ever cared about anyone again, or got too attached, she'd lose them, too.

Aww, I really like this one! I'm interested in the distinct differences in your characters, might I add. I'm glad to see another Xingese child around, especially to allow plots for other characters. On a more application-based note, she seems to have a very interesting, tender personality. Besides the fact that she looks fragile, it's also intriguing that she is also mentally fragile. Her history was also unique based on what we have so far, so it was delightful to read. I look forward to her posts/threads (and probably threading with her)!!
