FULL NAME|| Izumi Curtis // Formerly 'Harnet'
NICKNAME(S)|| 'Sensei' // 'Teacher' // 'The Housewife' // 'Mountain Woman'
AGE|| ...Around 37/38 (Post-Series)
GROUP|| Alchemist
NATIONALITY|| Amestrian
OCCUPATION|| Butcher-shop owner. // Exclusive Alchemy teacher.
CANON OR ORIGINAL|| Canon[/color] fodder
ALCHEMIST?|| Most definitely.
ABILITIES/TECHNIQUES|| Since she has been exposed to 'The Truth' after attempting a Human Transmutation the ability to Transmute without a circle is possible. Unlike Ed she rarely uses weapons in her transmuting, when she is 'forced' to she prefers to use spear and lance like weapons. Instead she uses her surroundings, using blocks, walls, and other means of subduing her enemy.
A more in depth look at her technique reveals that instead of simply creating with her mind she can use a specific hand gesture, that being a press of her palms together creating a Transmutation Circle with her arms and in essence her body. This ability is shared with Edward and later on Alphonse. It is the closest to using a Philosopher's Stone.
In addition to Izumi's fearsome power of instant Transmuting is her skills in martial arts. This prowess is used in correlation to her Transmuting basically using her immediate surroundings to overcome a challenge. The Elrics underwent this same form of training when they became Izumi's disciples. On top of this Izumi has built up a rather impressive strength when training in the Northern mountains. Her skills all combine in harmony to make her a formidable challenge.
The only downside to this almost Godly like stature is her inherited sickness. This came from her failed Transmutation of her deceased child. 'In order to gain something, something must be given...This is called Equivalent Exchange'. The Truth took most of her internal organs (It's speculated to have been her reproductive organs). Because of this if she gets over worked she coughs up blood and must calm herself down, taking medication as well.

HAIR|| Dark Brown // Black
EYES|| Dark Gray // Black
HEIGHT/WEIGHT|| 5' 9" (?) // "None of your business!"
GENERAL DESCRIPTION|| Basically Izumi looks sleek and fit. Even in her age and sickness she remains healthy looking and beautiful. Her training and workout routines keep her from retaining any baby fat she might have gained when pregnant. Notably she has black long hair which is braided and tied back except on very rare occasions. When she was younger she held the same physique and her hair remained un-braided. Like Roy Mustang she has narrowed eyes.
She wears sandals, mid calf long black pants // slacks? As well as a white garment, which splits on the top showing just a glimpse of cleavage and the markings of her Flamel Tattoo which is her unofficial symbol which Ed and Al adopt for themselves.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES|| Microbraided hair style, Flamel Tattoo on her upper left chest.

GENERAL PERSONALITY|| Izumi is a coin. There is the loving motherly side, the one that cares for those who are around her and mean something to her. Her husband is a perfect example of those mostly exempt from her rage fits. Though he may occasionally do something 'off'. A way to show this is an immediate transition from a fire breathing dragon lady into a doting loving wife. The Elrics occasionally experience a motherly figure in Izumi. When they need her help she is there always though it may take some time convincing them their hearts are in the right place.
There is a serious side to Izumi, in fact most of her personality is wrapped around this side. This would be considered the spine of the coin, a coarse yet composed - Blunt. Honest and straight to the point, calculating and never a moment where her guard is down. Everything has order, and this is usually the side the Elrics experience before the coin is tossed; it's up to them, how it falls.
Then, finally is the legendary temper. Like most mothers who disapprove of actions if the Elrics invoke this side they are ultimately doomed and only a handful of times have they talked themselves out of being demolished. (Likely the best example is when they joined the State Alchemist.) She becomes quiet and very violent, usually slapping/hitting the boys. This can be quickly provoked when mentioning her age or calling her an unflattering word (Much like Edward's irritation to being called 'short' or anything similar.)
Izumi was trained to be tough, to fend for herself and finds that fear of things that seem impossible is a behavior that must be stricken from one's heart. However, this trait is not carried for everyone. Anyone with the will yet no means to help themselves deserve the chance to be helped. "All is One, One is All" is an ideal she came to forge when living through her own training. Izumi imparts this on the Elrics when she has them stranded on an island and forced to fend for themselves much like she had. They eventually learn this and carry it on in their lives. As stated, her motherly side has gained her a good livelihood with the neighboring children in Dublith, they enjoy playing with Seig, Mason and her. Caring for them as anyone with a good heart would.

HISTORY|| Izumi became interested in Alchemy at a young age; that being 18 years old. Coming to hear of a famous Alchemist Silver Steiner she ventured on her own to become his apprentice. In fact it was truly his brother Gold Steiner who told her he would not teach her Alchemy unless she could brave the mountains of Briggs. (Likely a ploy to turn her away from learning Alchemy, which he knew nothing of.) Regardless Izumi left for her month of Hermitage. She braved the weather and the wild beasts, almost dying a few times in the process. While up there she was attacked by the Briggs mountain patrol confusing her for a Drachman spy of sorts. While there with only a machete she made a name for herself as the mysterious Mountain Woman, raiding the immediate Fort's supplies the whole month.
Finally once her month had ended she returned and demanded she was to be taught Alchemy proving she was indeed ready for the Steiner. It was then that she found out the Silver Steiner was actually Golden! Enraged she dealt with the man and headed out to learn Alchemy elsewhere. This is when she met Seig, a younger, handsome man with a similar strength. Izumi fell instantly in love with the gentleman and they two married and eventually Izumi became pregnant with his child. Sometime during the ending of her pregnancy she became ill; this led to complications in child birth and she eventually lost the child, making her sterile and very ill. Stricken with depression she became desperate, and with a very basic self taught skill in Alchemy she performed taboo.
Taking her stillborn somewhere alone she performed a failed Human Transmutation, and was immediately taken to see The Truth There she was given a gift and ultimately a gift was taken from her. Weak and empty she was denied her child and had lost a good portion of her internal organs as punishment for attempting to play God. Izumi was found and taken home where she continued to live with her husband.
Years later the couple went on a trip touring the Eastern side of Amestris. During this trip they stopped in Resembool. One night a heavy storm began to uncontrollably roll through and caused a river to overflow and threaten the town/village. Quickly she lent a hand showing off her Alchemic power, on lookers including the Elric brothers were amazed at the Alchemist who formed a trench and dam around the area stopping the flowing river. The villagers were thankful for the woman and put her up to rest after having overworked herself that night. There she met the Elrics as they begged for a chance to train under her. After some time convincing, Izumi finally accepted the two orphans and promised them a trial test much as she had gone through so long ago.
Izumi's teachings.
Izumi returned to Dublith with the two boys where they had a sort of last supper. Then it was off to Yock island in the middle of Kauroy lake, just outside of Dublith, this was the ideal location to test the boy's merit. Her instructions were as follows: 'Survive using no Alchemy and only a starting knife. Decipher the meaning of "All is One, One is All". Leaving Mason to keep a guardian's sight over them she returned to the meat shop and waited out the month with Seig. During that time he asked if she really was serious about keeping them out there. Firmly in support of herself she assured him that it was merely a trial as she had undergone, if the boys were serious they would make it through the month and solve her creed's meaning. The month seemed to pass rather quickly for her.
After their month of surviving she returned and was immediately impressed to see how healthy they remained, they looked fit and determined to reunite with their absent teacher. Confidence in themselves oozed out as they recited their findings of her creed. She laughed but accepted them, as promised and for the next six months trained them in her ideals, and Alchemy as well as Martial Arts.
Izumi taught the boys to keep their physical bodies in check or their strength in Alchemy would falter. To be connected at every point to keep a structure strong was not only to be applied with man-made things but nature as well. A constant flow... She would spar them, have them spar each other, and gave them the knowledge to hone their Alchemic abilities. Within the months she grew attached to the boys, they were the children she had never had. Izumi gave them guidance and wisdom, and basically became a second mother. Until, finally she deemed them ready to go off on their own and apply what they had learned to their lives.
Some years later the Elrics return, paying the long overdue visit. They were welcomed back wit ha hearty dinner and told Izumi of their adventures and eventually that they had - or rather, Ed had joined the State Alchemists. Eventually she saw this as their choice, and stated that the Philosopher's Stone they sought did not interest her and therefore she could not give them any information. Convinced their training had slackened she opted to give them a quick session to 'fine-tune' their lost skills. Eager to show off his new ability Ed performed a Transmutation without a circle. The sight shocked Izumi realizing instantly that they boy had indeed committed the unholy taboo. Naturally she expels the two, but not before forgiving them of their sins as she had committed the same... But the mood does not last as the expulsion only changes their relationship from Master and Apprentices - to equal colleagues.
Hohenheim and the promised day.
While on another of their trips, Izumi and Seig meet Van Hohenheim on their train. The three of them discuss Ed and Al's progress and improvements in the last years, their travels and their choices in life. Eventually Izumi's debilitating sickness got the better of her and in front of Hohenheim she coughed up blood. This couldn't be the best time to get sick, as Hohenheim - concerned with Izumi's sickness reached inside her mid section and began to re-arrange her organs. This temporarily weakened Izumi, and sent Seig into a concerned aggression. Knocking Hohenheim backwards and going to his wife's side; She stated that instead of feeling worse at the possible stabbing, she felt like she could breath better. That's when Hohenheim announced he hadn't cured her completely. But rather, that he rearranged her insides in the most favourable way. Izumi asks what he is to which the man solely replies 'Just a person named Van Hohenheim'
Hohenheim informs the two on the current state of Amestris, a so called 'Promised Day' and a nationwide Transmutation Circle. The likes of which dwarf any other attempts. With this knowledge the couple head North in order to inform powers that be of this oncoming doomsday. Izumi is purposely captured by troops in the North in order to inform (Buccaneer and Miles).
With the Promised day approaching, Izumi and Seig are relocated to the Armstrong Mansion (Do you feel sorry for them?) Where Olivier has ordered them to take refuge. The plan is to wait out Mustang's uprising and once that has begun, Izumi and Briggs troops storm Central City taking the fight to the Führer's loyalists.
Eventually she and her husband encounter the Armstrong siblings, Olivier and Alex Louis combating the Homunculus Sloth. The couple aide in destroying the beast, and through trial and tribulation the four finally overcome the behemoth. After this Izumi is suddenly transported away from the siblings and her husband taken by the man known as Father. Izumi is reunited with Edward and Alphonse as well as Hohenheim and the new appearance of Roy Mustang. The five of them are revealed to be Father's sacrifices - All having one thing in common, surviving The Gate.
Once all the sacrifices are gathered Father forces them to reopen The Gate to which he enters and soon returns with God like qualities. The five begin to attack the man, unleashing their combined abilities against his form. Eventually he retreats having most of his life drained. Izumi follows after him without hesitation and is shocked as he summons the fallen souls of the Xerxesians. Edward follows and watches as Izumi weakens from the sight of a fallen dead babe. Father unleashes a large blast towards the others and ultimately they are caught in it.
However it is revealed that just in time Hohenheim was able to protect the two and once more the fight is brought to Father ultimately ending in his demise. The Promised Day has passed, and the threat has faded into a memory. Seig and Izumi reunite and greet Alphonse in his long awaited returned body.
Current timeline.
Not much has happened since The Promised Day, Izumi and Seig still run their butcher shop with Mason. The neighborhood remains a vital part of her life, where she spends time with the growing children. Her health has been tested and has come out with positive results. Of course even with Hohenheim's actions she was not able to regain her ability to carry a child. Coming to terms with this she and Seig often visit the boys and Winry - Having realized they were the best thing to make up for her lost child, they were in her own way her children.
Mason is still an oddball but he works hard and sometimes makes mistakes, which Izumi corrects and keeps a sort of disgruntled eye on him. Seig helps out in the town as well and the two remain very much in love. Izumi makes sure to keep the boys in shape when visiting.

ANYTHING ELSE|| I have played Izumi before on Myspace a few years ago. I think the profile is still there. I have not been on it though so...Not sure what is going on there. I'll be dusting off the cobwebs on Izumi so hopefully I have garnered some impressed looks. As well, feel free to PM me on the site or on my listed messenger.

A casual yet not too 'haha we were right and you were wrong' reply. Blinking curiously as she noticed the large man lift his head curious at the conversation. Apparently it had only been good news since returning to life in Dublith. A spare hand lifted to push some braids behind an ear keeping them in place. "Uh huh... Sure I still get the occasional spell but it's not as bad as usual, I can breathe better that's for sure... Sure...Alright, next week then." Her hand's grip lessened letting the speaker down on the box. That hand curled into a fist and pushed into her cheek as she glanced over to the man. "An ox" The man smirked, his hairy beard curling up, what a handsome sight. 'An ox? I think you could do better than that' "Alright, a train." 'A train? You're being modest.' "Hm... Anyway, I am going in next week, he'll call back. But everything looks fine so far." 'I didn't have any doubts...' Then he walked over. A small smirk formed as she leaned back crossing her arms over her chest looking up at the burly bear. "Well with all that I think it is an okay to take a trip out to see the boys." He nodded. So then the plans were set and the luggage (as little as it was) had not been sitting in their room in vain.
A hour or so later...
A small sigh escaped under the loud roar of the train trekking off behind them. Safe on inanimate earth, the woman adjusted her jacket lifting a fist to her mouth to cough with a grimace forming over her lips. "I've suddenly gotten a bad idea in my head." A small mutter to herself as Seig lifted his bag over his shoulder and looked down at the woman. 'What is that?' She hesitated, shifting her gaze up at the man frowning softly. "I don't think I noticed Mason package the meat in the freezer...." Seig nodded and that...Didn't give her any confidence. 'You can call him once we get to the home.' An approving nod. Her head turned as she lifted her head up to the sunny sky. A breath of fresh air, she felt good...Her body felt better than it had in a long time and that far away memory of her past now resided in the clouds. It'd be nice to see them again, Winry as well.
"Alright, better get there before they run off somwhere...."
