In this thread I'd like to expand upon my idea for a Cold War style theme for the Drachma plot. I know I've received little feedback on my post, but I figured if I had an idea it'd be better shared in my own thread. Essentially, seeing as Drachma shares traits with Russia and Amestris with America, I think it'd be cool to introduce the world of FMA to espionage and black ops.
What I'm thinking is that due to the rising pressure from the North, the Amestrian government decides to put together a special task force of specifically gifted individuals tasked with objectives such as gathering information from within the Drachman ranks, high risk rescues, and of course, removal of high value targets.
Due to the fact that Amestris would be seeing a similar urge to America to remain the 'dominant power' throughout this struggle, Amestris would most likely see advances in technology. Nothing ridiculous. I'm not talking cell phones and Tupac's hologram, I mean more along the lines of better weapons and military technology. I think it's time Amestris saw aircrafts. 'Pilot' is an occupation we lack.
Firearms can take a few steps forward here. Throughout the Fullmetal Alchemist series besides automail guns all you really see are World War II style weapons. Maybe it's time to introduce the assault rifle to Amestris. The M1 Carbine style rifles wouldn't really cut it for a CIA-like agency. They'd need something lighter, more mobile, and easy to handle. Pistols wouldn't change much, but for the 'spy' party they'd need something other than the ordinary 1911 style pistols ans revolvers seen in the series. Something like a CZ 75 or a Five-Seven would do. Not too modern, but enough to add something to the series. Suppressors would be a MUST for covert ops. Plus, they give your gun that James Bond look.
There are a lot of spy gadgets that would be cool in FMA.

Well, there;s obviously more, but I'm tired and probably rambling right now. So I'm gonna sleep. This is obviously open to suggestion. I'd be happy if anything even similar happened. xD
