GENERAL DESCRIPTION|| Overall, the most distinguishing feature of Nicholas's physique and the first one most notice is his height - well over the usual average height of 5' 8" for Amestrians, Nicholas tends to stand apart from the crowd rather easily. The next thing people tend to notice is how skinny he seems to be - despite his height he is actually slightly thinner than most, although that isn't to say that he is at all frail or only skin and bone. While his choice in clothing (usually a dark black or midnight blue t shirt or casual shirt, brown or black jeans, work shoes and a jet black, high necked fleece with a subtle zipper from chin to sternum) tends to be rather conservative and as a result hides virtually all of him short of his head, Nicholas has not slacked off since his military days, however short they may have been. With next to none excess body fat and made of very dense whipcord muscle, Nicholas is what many might consider to be close to the peak of physical ability for his age group, and he is still getting stronger and faster as he ages.

As far as his face goes, Nicholas has virtually no facial hair, a trait inherited from his father (who didn't start shaving until his late 20s).

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES|| Numerous small but difficult to see scars along his arms and legs, the vast majority of which amount to smooth silvery lines of scar tissue no longer than an inch at most - some gained during his military service, others during his relatively rural life growing up on the outskirts of New Optain in eastern Amestris.

GENERAL PERSONALITY|| To put it blunty, Nicholas is a complicated person. At times he can be completely apathetic, and at others driven beyond what many would consider reasonable. While he will most often appear to be more of the former, at times being what many would view as cynical and sarcastic if not downright snarky, there are a handful of things that drive him more strongly than most would imagine - first and foremost is a very strong sense of right and wrong, followed by the usual edict of Equivilant Exchange that most alchemists tend to follow as a guiding philosophy, finally followed by the fact that Nicholas places a high degree of value on the idea of loyalty - the first two reasons were why he left the State Alchemists, and the last was why he stayed with them for a full tour of duty before formally resigning his title and station.

To those who do manage to tolerate him long enough or to those stubborn/curious enough to try and figure out who he is underneath the shell, though, Nicholas tends to be much kinder than his outward persona might suggest, often going out of his way to use his alchemy for constructive purposes rather than as the weapon it once was. To those who actually befriend him, they would be hard pressed to find someone more loyal - while he generally tends to keep himself on the sidelines of most conflicts, such a person would only need to say the word and he would get involved without hesitation. Highly intelligent and observant, though, he also has a very long memory, and will not forget misdeeds or other behavior or actions that might earn his ire.
